Is a pregnancy massage done on your side or back?
We start most of our pregnancy massages with the client on her back. We place a foam wedge on top of the cushion you see below and you sit in the large hole and rest your back on the foam wedge. It's actually quite comfortable! Half way through the session, your turn over on your stomach. We practice during the consultation to make sure you fit safely for the baby and comfortably for you.
If your stomach no longer fits in the cushion hole, you can get your massage on your side. We set up the table with numerous pillows to make sure there is no pressure pain on common areas such as the hips and shoulders. You can always request a tour of our spa and a trial of our pregnancy massage cushion or pillow set up.
How often should an expectant mother get a massage?
● 1ST/2ND TRIMESTER - ONCE EVERY 4 WEEKS UP TO WEEK 27
● 3RD TRIMESTER - EVERY OTHER WEEK UP TO WEEK 36
● AND WEEKLY FROM WEEK 36 ON UNTIL YOU GIVE BIRTH. MANY OF OUR CLIENTS COME EVERY OTHER WEEK OR EVERY WEEK FOR THE WHOLE PREGNANCY. prenatal massage frequency
What about a new mom? (postpartum)
- Postpartum massage can be given 24 hours after delivery if there are no complications. This helps relieve the strains related to labor, nursing/or possibly surgery, which is why a houste call is the best alternative to help your body heal and adjust.
- Come bac within the first 10 days of giving birth. (Postpartum bleeding and leaking breast milk is not a problem)
- Them: Every other week at least for the first 16 weeks postpartum

Do I have to wait until week 12 or pass the 1st trimerster to get a prenatal massage?
No. At Cypress Pregnancy Massage, you can get a massage right away, at any trimester. You can come in as soon as you know you are expecting. Always consult with your healthcare provider before starting any new therapy.
The therapist will use soothing techniques tailored to your needs, avoiding deep pressure and certain areas that may trigger contractions. Sessions is totally customizable, we will go as light or deep as safely possible. This technique promotes relaxation and balance throughout the body.
